Other half of Q & A with Darlene Tallman and Signing dates!

Is there a book, movie, or song that inspires you when you’re working?

I will sometimes put on “mushy” music if I’m working on a love scene or a wedding to get me in the mood.

As a writer, I’m sure you also love reading. Do you have a favorite book and what do you love about it?

Too many to mention, but I absolutely love Kristen Ashley’s Chaos series! I enjoy it and it’s a frequent reread for the simple fact that she’s woven a group of people together seamlessly.

If someone told you tomorrow that you could no longer write and had to pick some other job, what would you choose and why?

Cat rescue because every animal deserves a loving home.

In addition to your writing, do you have another job that helps pay the bills? Is it something you consider to be your passion, or just something you feel you’re good at doing?

Believe it or not, I have been writing aviation resumes and cover letters for over 30 years now. I’m good at what I do but I wouldn’t say it’s my passion.

If you have a designated writing space, can you describe it for us?

At home, I write on my bed which has more pillows than one person needs. I’ve got a slew of Funko Pops on my headboard, several toys for the dog as well as a fuzzy bed that the kitties take turns sleeping in throughout the day.

What do you think is the most important thing to remember when following your dreams?

Don’t stop even when someone says you can’t because you can!

Marketing. I know most authors have a love/hate relationship with it. Have you found that to be true, and do you have any recommendations for new or aspiring authors?

I’m not the best at marketing simply because of time limitations. My recommendation is to get yourself a good team of people, including a PA or two, that love your work and will share it “everywhere”!

At what age did you know you wanted to be a writer, and how long did it take for you to realize that dream?

I was a preteen and remember telling my dad I either wanted to be a writer or a teacher. I didn’t achieve my goal until I was 53 I think!

What advice do you have for those who think they want to write professionally?

Write everyday. Consider plotting, at least the basic stuff, so you don’t get yourself stuck remembering names and what-not. Learn basic English as far as grammar and punctuation.

We know that you write romances. Do you write anything else, even if it’s under a different name?

I write paranormal with a coauthor under a pen name, and my solo books are either contemporary, MC or paranormal.

Movies. Books. Which do you prefer and what genre/trope do you lean toward the most when wanting to escape for a bit?

I love movies and will often find an old favorite on and watch it, but for my escape? I read and it runs the gamut from paranormal to rom-com to MC to contemporary.

If you were stuck on an uninhabited island, who would you want to have with you and why? What are the top five items you’d wish you had there?

I’d have to have Liberty with me and we’d have to have our pets, our laptops (so internet would be necessary, does that make 3?), our ereaders, shelter.

Now, let’s talk a little about your current book…

1. 1. What’s the title of your current release and is it part of a series?

2. Loki’s Angel which is book 3 in the Poseidon’s Warriors MC series.

3. 2. Who published

4. I published it through Amazon.

5. 3. Your cover looks amazing. Do you know who the artist is?

6. Tracie Douglas of Dark Water Covers is my designer. She took the picture of Joe Worden that Golden Czermak sold me and created it for me.

7. 4. Was there something in particular that inspired you to write this story?

8. I had an idea involving a relatively complex tattoo so did some research on whether or not that was possible, then CeeCee’s story started to come to me.

9. 5. If there’s one thing a reader will take away from this story, what do you hope it is?

10. Everyone has scars. Some are inside, some are outside, but they do not define who YOU are.

11.6. Any funny stories you can share about writing this book, or something that sparked the idea for it?

12. I’m a huge Supernatural fan so when I was coming up with names for CeeCee’s birds, it was actually playing. Crowley came in and said, “Hello, boys” in that accent of his while I was writing the scene where she was trying to figure out what to name them and the lightbulb went off!f

Now these are some awesome answers, and i wanna thank Darlene Tallman for answering and Jessica Coulter Smith for coming up with the questions, cuz ya know i am a stupid!
